STEP Standard Provisions

All Wills drafted by WSL contain provisions relating to the role of your Executors and Trustees. Such provisions are under the heading “Powers and Responsibilities of Executors and Trustees”.

Generally speaking your Executors will make sure your estate is distributed according to your Will and the Trustees will look after any money that is held in Trust, for example until someone attains the age of 18.

Both Executors and Trustees are already given some powers by law, but those powers can be quite limited and do not always allow the Executors and Trustees to do the things we would expect them to do, or be able to do. So it is very important to include some additional powers and provisions in your Will that may be required to help your Executors and Trustees to administer your estate and carry out your wishes.

At WSL we include a set of general provisions that have been professionally drafted and approved by STEP, and are used widely by other professional will writers and solicitors. STEP is the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a global professional association that promotes high professional standards in this area of law.

Should you wish to familiarise yourself with all the STEP provisions please click here to download a copy of the Standard Provisions of STEP containing both the provisions themselves and a helpful detailed guidance explaining those provisions.

Suitability for a home visit is dependent on the size and complexity of the estate, and will be assessed on the initial phone call.
